KIARA
Hi.
I’m Kiara Doyle, 16 years old, and I’m from Northern Ireland. That’s nothing I’m proud of. I hate it here. It’s raining all the time and it’s terrible! I want to move somewhere hot, so that’s why I’m participating here. I’m really hoping for the US if I would win, but Australia and New Zeeland isn’t too bad either. Canada seems cold.
I live with my mother Leila, my father Jay, my little sisters Elaine and Jaren, my twin brother Banan and my cat Catnip. Elaine is twelve and Jaren is eight.
It’s a kind of funny story about my name. In Irish, Kiara means ‘black’ and Doyle means ‘dark foreigner’. And Banan – my brother’s name – means ‘white’.
I’m proud of my name. That’s the only Irish words I know. My parents moved here from England a long time ago. My older brother Kian was only a year or two. Now he’s 37 and back in London, and I’m jealous. Though I don’t even like any of the British Isles but at least London is a city.
I’m supposed to go to school every morning, but sometimes I like to sleep an hour longer. My teachers and parents are mad at me but I’m doing pretty well in class anyway. In the future I’m either a successful business woman or musician.
Music is one of my biggest interests. I play piano and guitar but I sing even more. I just love it. I can open up my soul in a way I never thought was possible before. I know it sounds ridiculous but you want the gaining person to sound unordinary, don’t you? And I want to win this sh*t!
Expect music I’m interested in fashion. I work at the local library (extremely boring) to earn extra money for clothes. My parents stopped giving me weekly pay when I was eleven but I never gave up. Before I found this job I always helped my neighbours with random things for money. As you see, I never give up.
My future dream is classical American – a walk in closet. My current wardrobe is overfilled with shirts, dresses, jeans, jackets, cardigans, skirts, stockings, leggings and other things I’m not sure how to spell. I also have got a drawer with necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets. And don’t forget the makeup. I’m a professional makeup artist and I’m doing my own thing. People often recognize me by my strongly marked eyes. I think loads of people look up to me because I really dare to be myself. When I’m out shopping I sometimes see inspired teenagers smiling at me, and that makes me realizing that everyone can make change if they find the power inside them.
That was a little about me. I’m Kiara Doyle. Sixteen years old. I want to change and inspire. I see this scholarship as a chance but also as a challenge. Thanks for reading this.
Bye.
